Secretary-General of the World Organization for International and Digital Arbitration – Washington Meets Director General of Jordan Customs to Discuss Cooperation in Arbitration and Customs Dispute Resolution
Amman –
The Director General of Jordan Customs, Major General Customs Officer Ahmad Al-Aqeelik, received today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Jordan Customs Department, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Khaleq Al-Zoubi, Secretary-General of the World Organization for International and Digital Arbitration – Washington, and an international arbitrator and attorney.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Organization and the Jordan Customs Department, particularly in the field of arbitration as an alternative means of resolving customs disputes. This approach aims to expedite the settlement of such disputes, increase stakeholder satisfaction—especially among investors—and reduce the backlog of pending cases related to customs valuation and tariffs. These efforts are expected to contribute to institutional development and the improvement of the business and investment environment in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Dr. Al-Zoubi emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with official institutions, highlighting the vital role digital arbitration can play in accelerating the resolution of customs disputes and alleviating the burden on the judiciary.
For his part, Major General Al-Aqeelik welcomed this cooperation, affirming the Department’s commitment to advancing customs legislation, embracing international expertise, and leveraging modern arbitration tools to enhance transparency and ensure fairness in customs transactions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Khaleq Al-Zoubi presented a commemorative shield from the Organization to Major General Ahmad Al-Aqeelik in appreciation of the collaboration.
